ShesUnCovered Is Building the Next Chapter

At ShesUnCovered, we believe a woman deserves compassionate, practical support when hair loss or a difficult life transition changes the way she sees herself.

Our work has always been about more than wigs. Hair loss can happen during cancer treatment, autoimmune illness, alopecia, hormonal changes, stress, grief, and other traumatic experiences. While helping a woman find, style, repair, or confidently wear a wig is important, we also recognize that she may need support rebuilding her overall appearance, confidence, and sense of identity.

What We’ve Been Working On

After receiving a $5,000 pitch competition award, we began strengthening the foundation of the organization. The funding helped us secure administrative support, purchase quality toppers, and continue assisting women through donated wigs, beauty services, education, and personal support.

This work has given us valuable insight into what women need—and where gaps still exist.

We are now developing plans to:

  • Help women properly wear, style, repair, and care for wigs they already own

  • Provide access to wigs, toppers, scalp-care resources, and beauty support

  • Develop hospital and healthcare partnerships

  • Offer educational workshops and lunch-and-learn experiences

  • Pilot community makeover opportunities using donated clothing and beauty resources

  • Create better intake, follow-up, referral, and outcome-tracking systems

Our goal is not to simply hand a woman an item and send her on her way. We want to support the full transition—helping her look, feel, and show up with renewed confidence.

Why We’re Growing Our Board

As the vision grows, the organization must grow responsibly with it.

We are currently seeking individuals who may be a strong fit for the following leadership areas:

Board Chair and Community Connector

This person will help guide board meetings, strengthen accountability, represent the mission, and connect us with community leaders and potential partners.

Treasurer

We are looking for someone with financial, bookkeeping, accounting, or nonprofit-budget experience who can help oversee financial reporting, budgets, policies, and responsible stewardship.

Secretary and Operations Support

This person will help maintain meeting minutes, organizational records, policies, deadlines, and other important board documentation.

Healthcare and Development Board Member

This leader will help us build relationships with hospitals, oncology programs, healthcare providers, funders, sponsors, and community organizations.

Experience in healthcare, fundraising, nonprofit development, patient advocacy, or community partnerships would be especially valuable.

We’re Also Building a Volunteer Support Team

Not every person who wants to help needs to serve on the board.

We are also interested in connecting with volunteers who can provide:

  • Social media and blog support

  • Administrative and scheduling assistance

  • Program and event support

  • Clothing organization and community makeover assistance

  • Photography and storytelling

  • Sponsorship and grant research

  • Participant intake and follow-up

We want people to serve where their skills, availability, and passion genuinely fit. We are not looking for names to place on a list. We are looking for reliable people who believe in the mission and are prepared to help build it.

Help Us Build What Women Deserve

ShesUnCovered is working toward a future where women navigating hair loss and major life transitions do not have to figure everything out alone.

We believe dignity should be protected. Confidence can be rebuilt. Healing should not be treated as a luxury.

If you have experience in one of these areas—or you know someone who may be a good fit—we would love to hear from you.

Send us a message introducing yourself, the area that interests you, and what you believe you could consistently contribute over the next year.

Together, we can build a stronger support system for women who are ready to feel seen, supported, and uncovered again.
